What's In Your Closet?

Face it, we all have clothes in our closets and drawers that we shouldn't.  Well, I have 2 bits of advice for clothes.

The first one comes from another blog that I love to read.  I liked this short list so much that I'm going to repeat it!

What kinds of clothes should we have?

-clothes that we love
-clothes that fit us
-clothes that get us compliments

Isn't that simple?  It makes it easy to thin out items that we used to love to wear, but no longer, easier to get rid of dresses and slacks that just don't fit anymore, and easiest to identify those items that nobody compliments us on.

The second is one word:  UPGRADE
Simply defined, it is -  1 item in = 1 item out

Most stores are having incredible sales now to clear out their winter merchandise.  So, if you buy 2 sweaters on sale, just make a pact with yourself to get rid 2 sweaters that you don't love, that don't fit...you know!

This is a great time of year to fill up a few bags for donation to the Salvation Army or Goodwill.  So, make those tough decisions.  Thin out your closet so that you can actually see all the clothes that you love to wear and that fit you!!  And remember to upgrade!!!

  2. Susan, we all have our dreams!! Even I have a couple items that I hope will fit someday, maybe, please??!! The key is how many. I think it's a good feeling to actually get rid of clothes that don't fit anymore. There's nothing wrong with admitting that we're not the size we used to be. It doesn't mean that we will never be that size again, it just means that right now, we are content with who we are and not hanging on to the past in an unhealthy way.

  3. During the Super Bowl Laris and I went to a friend's house and did a "What Not To Wear" evening. We sat on the bed eating chocolate while we made her try on clothes from her closet. We matched up some great combinations she didn't know she had, jettisoned items that were not flattering or out of style and left the house with a bag destined for St. Vincent de Paul. We all enjoyed it and she will be looking even cuter than normal.

    1. Wow, I think we all need a "What Not to Wear" event with you and Larissa! I bet this friend now has great ideas about clothes that she never would have thought of on her own. Thanks for sharing this!
